A gated community located on the east side of route 41 directly across the street from the gated entrance to The Oaks Clubside lies the Oaks Bayside. The Oaks Bayside has 195 lots and was the first part of The Oaks to be developed. Some homes are built on two lots. Five of these homes are located directly on the waters of Sarasota Bay with their own docks, and there is a community day dock for the residents of The Oaks Bayside. Some of the lots in The Oaks Bayside are near an eagle preserve. Membership to The Oaks Club is required of all residents of The Oaks Bayside.
Surrounded on three sides by water, Oaks Bayside offers idyllic views of Little Sarasota Bay, and Casey and Siesta Keys. This vibrant community features 133 spacious home sites set on 200 acres of lush natural beauty, including mature oaks and palm trees, some of which stood when Mrs. Bertha Honoré Palmer built her home here in 1910. Fragrant citrus orchards, originally planted by Mrs. Palmer, a county-protected eagle preserve, and protected areas harboring such endangered species as the bald eagle and the gopher tortoise abound. The community dock is ideal for fishing, sunset gazing and launching small water crafts for rowing in bay or for making the short trip over to the pristine sand beach of Palmer Point Park on Casey Key. A lovely gazebo and reflecting pond is a favorite spot for neighborhood gatherings, weddings and other special occasions. The classic-style homes in this neighborhood reflect the relaxed, elegant lifestyle of the community. Bayside homeowners include working professionals, empty nesters, and growing families, each adding their own unique character to this close-knit community.
