Dear Readers,
Presenting a short poem adapted from the Night Before Christmas.
Twas a few nights before Christmas I was shopping bound.. South from my Oaks community, some more gifts to be found. We’d just left another party, my husband Jack was in bed That’s good, I’ll go get our last presents I said!
I hopped in my Car heading south to Wal-Mart It was the mess on Macewen that made me turn with a start!
A little old man with reindeer and sleigh Toys strewn around, and all in my way, Yes, I was in a hurry to get to the gate, We call it “Oak’s midnight” although, not very late…
I’m in Osprey? Sarasota, FL? he asked with a blink. “It is,” I assured him “are you who I think?” I wondered what he was doing-there on the ground And why all these presents were scattered around…
A bit dazed he explained “Oh, I stopped at the Clubhouse tonight,” gathered the “toys for the tot’s” and was just back in flight.. “My pack was overloaded I have to admit”, “and I was staring down at the grounds that were so beautifully lit!”
“Sarasota’s a bit different then xmas up North,” he did glow! (Certainly not from Cold – but an effect from the Moon don’t cha know) Santa enthusiastically rattled on. “Sarasota beaches are many, arts, culture and ballet”.. He couldn’t help but notice it all each year from his sleigh!
So back on his sleigh he spun out of sight… One last comment from him I heard as he tore out of sight… “If I didn’t have this Job I’d move to Sarasota tonight!”
I smiled to myself as I slipped out my gate Even Santa who has seen the world agrees Sarasota is great!
